Visofold 1000 Aluminium Bifold Doors
Aluminium folding doors with exceptionally slim sight lines of just 132mm!
FD2U aluminium bifold doors are manufactured from slim 60mm thermally broken profiles to ensure maximum glass widths can be acheived using the minimum number of panels. There are no additional mullions required between the panels that broaden the sight lines so when panels are folding sliding in the same direction the width of the aluminium from edge of glass to edge of glass is just 132mm.
There is a choice of weathered or low thresholds and with standard solar control double glazing and options such as our exclusive concealed trickle vent facility our Visofold 1000 aluminium bifolding doors have become our best-selling folding door.
Luxury aluminium folding doors
Our range of aluminium folding doors are manufactured from dedicated profiles designed by one of the UK’s leading architectural aluminium system suppliers Smart Systems. Smarts Visofold series of bifolding doors have been available in the UK and Europe for a number of years offering both domestic and commercial folding door applications.
Aluminium doors are particularly renown for their ease of operation and reliability in service and our doors also benefit from a dual roller system at the bottom with the panel tops also guided by rollers for smooth running and easy operation. There are no heavy-weight lintels required as the doors are bottom rolling and not hung from the top.
Individual door panels can be up to 1 metre wide to provide wide glass apertures using minimum aluminium profiles which allows natural light to flood into the room.
As you can see here when fully opened the panels fold and slide to stack neatly together and the remaining hinged panel will be retained by the magnetic chrome catch shown at the bottom of the door.
Fully Integrated Trickle Ventilation
Most bifold door installations will require trickle vents to meet building regulation requirements. Our unique and exclusive frame extender is designed to provide integrated trickle ventilation to your new aluminium folding door so the slim sight lines are not spoilt by ugly face fixed trickle vents. Fitted to the top of the door frame the profile conceals the trickle vents from view and also provides a weather bar feature to enhance weather protection at the top of the door.
Low Threshold Option
The Visofold 1000 series features strong, durable profiles and a choice of low or weathered thresholds. The non-weathered low threshold provides the opportunity to create flush floor levels between two living spaces by sinking the threshold into the floor merging the two floor areas into one. This is particularly useful for room dividers or for doors installed between the main house and conservatory where they are often left open most of the time. This image shows an aluminium bifold door with a low threshold fitted between tiled floors from a kitchen into a conservatory.
Choose from over 200 Colours
Visofold 1000 folding sliding doors are manufactured from thermally broken aluminium profiles that are available in over 200 RAL powder paint finishes and can also be supplied with a dual paint colour finish so you can select an external colour and an internal colour. In addition we also offer a range of textured paint finishes called Sensations.
Conservatory Bifold Doors
Aluminium folding doors are ideal for use as conservatory doors and are often requested by customers who feel aluminium provides a stronger durable door especially when wider openings are required. When fitted in conjunction with a steel portal frame doors up to 6 metres or wider can be fitted to open-up the complete front of a conservatory or as shown here two bifold doors can open up the corner of the structure with stunning effect.
High Security Locking
Our Visofold aluminium folding doors feature high security shoot bolt locking as standard and where available traffic doors are fitted with multi-point hook bolt locking to provide optimum security. The locking system, hinges and running gear are fully concealed when the door is closed ensuring that there is no opportunity for an intruder to gain access by tampering with the door gearing, hinges and fixings.
Lever/Lever handles operate the hook bolt locking system on traffic doors and provide external key access whilst intermediate panel shoot bolt locking is operated by internal fold-flat handles as shown. Handles are available in white, chrome or black finishes but can be supplied to any RAL colour at extra cost. Please note that the style of traffic door handle will differ when RAL colour handles are specified. ‘D’ handles(black or chrome only) are fitted to the hinges of the intermediate panels to allow easy opening and closing of the bifold doors.
All hinge fixings are concealed when the door is closed with only the knuckle of the hinge visible ensuring the hinges cannot be tampered with from the outside. Roller hinges feature 4 stainless steel rollers running on dual tracks and are fitted to top and bottom of sliding panels for smooth and effortless operation. The rollers are fully enclosed in a metal casing for good looks and to help keep them clean. Hinges are supplied in black finish only.
